Following the shocking loss of the Dallas Cowboys against the seven-seed Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round of the National Football League Playoffs, Greenhill students say they were “upset by the ending.”
The final score was 48-32, marking the first time that the seven seed had beaten the two-seed.
The Cowboys went into the game with a 75% chance to win the game, and a 25% chance to make the Super Bowl.
“I don’t think anyone really expected this loss, and as die-hard cowboy fans, me and my dad were very disappointed with the result,” freshman Miles Wilson said.
The Cowboys have achieved a regular season record of 12-5 for three consecutive seasons now, under Head Coach Mike McCarthy. which is an impressive feat, but questions are now arising from all angles following three straight early playoff exits.
“They looked unprepared out there. McCarthy showed no emotion, nothing went to plan,” said freshman Nirvan Bhattacharya.
Quarterback Dak Prescott was coming off the best season of his career after throwing for 36 touchdowns and only nine interceptions, so expectations were high. However, Prescott completely underperformed expectations in the playoffs, which is now becoming a common theme in his career despite consistently being a top regular-season quarterback.
“Dak can’t live up to expectations when the lights are bright,” freshman Aaron Sharma said.
The Cowboy’s fan community is at a loss to explain the reason behind the postseason woes.
“I thought this was going to be our year, everything was pointing towards it,” Sharma said.
The offseason brings questions surrounding contracts, specifically Prescott and McCarthy’s.
