On Saturday, Jan. 25, during halftime of the Greenhill girls varsity basketball game, the Junior Mavs played a 12-minute game.
The Junior Mavs is a wheelchair basketball program that offers teams for children with physical disabilities.
The team features highly ranked wheelchair basketball players, some looking to play wheelchair basketball at a collegiate level.
During the game, Greenhill students in attendance cheered on the players.
The Greenhill girls varsity basketball team has been partnering with the program since 2009. As part of the partnership, members of the Greenhill team have had the opportunity to practice with the Junior Mavs. During these practices, they experienced the challenge of playing basketball in a wheelchair.
In addition to supporting the Junior Mavs at their game, the Greenhill team organized a bake sale on Friday, Jan. 24 to raise money for the nonprofit organization. The money raised will go toward specialized basketball equipment and travel expenses of the Junior Mavs team.
