Middle School golfers have been working to change how they are seen within the Greenhill athletics program.
Team members said they feel like they are being overlooked as a team, but this year they aimed to change that.
“We are constantly trying to change the way people look at us,” seventh grader Ani Cooper said.
In terms of perception, the Middle School golf team had previously been seen as a loosely led sport, according to eighth grade student Stella George. This season, golfers aim to improve their performance.
After not competing in tournaments last year, the team participated in multiple events this season.
The roster includes many new additions, said Cameron Markey, a new coach.
Eighth graders are taking on leadership roles, while the seventh graders have shown that they are committed to golf.
The team keeps a structured weekly schedule. On Mondays, players participate in strength and conditioning training. Tuesdays are spent at the driving range, while Wednesdays and Thursdays are dedicated to playing on the course. The team rests on Fridays.
Players said their efforts so far will lead to long-term success.
“In the future, we will be champions,” Cooper said.
