Each Year, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League hosts a fundraising event for high-school sophomores, juniors and seniors from over 35 different schools.
The Junior Symphony Ball is the longest-running fundraiser of DSOL, and it supports DSOL outreach programs such as the Youth Musicians Program and the Youth Strings Program.
The DSOL is a community of volunteers who service, fundraise, and educate in support of the Dallas Symphony Association.
The DSOL hosts several events throughout the year including Fashion Notes, Youth Concerts, Debutante Presentation Ball, Save the Symphony, Membership Teas and JSB.
Last year, JSB raised $415,000 for music and education.
“I’m excited to be able to connect with my friends from other schools,” said sophomore Sadie Beck.
This year, JSB was held on Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Gilley’s Dallas, a venue in Downtown Dallas.
The ball is a chance for students to come together and celebrate with an evening of live music, raffles, dancing, simulated gaming tables, prizes and refreshments.
All JSB proceeds benefit the Dallas Symphony Orchestra community and education programs.
Girls traditionally wear dresses with cowboy boots and boys dress in Texas tuxedos – a tuxedo top, jeans and cowboy boots.
“I’m looking forward to dressing up and wearing boots,” junior Jane Hark said.
Junior Lilly Middleman, and Steering Committee member, says last year’s dance was very fun.
“Everyone loves an excuse to wear cowboy boots, so last year was so much fun and I’m excited to go this year with all my friends,” Middleman said.
