On Saturday, Jan. 29, three Greenhill robotics teams participated in their last qualifier of the season. Upper School Computer Science teacher and Robotics Faculty Advisor Maria Suarez is very proud of the efforts of her students and the results they received.

The three Greenhill teams that participated in this event were CodeRed, Viridian, and Motorheads.  Viridian and Motorheads both had top-five finishes out of 36 teams, as the third and fourth-place finishes respectively.

Although the CodeRed team, which is made up of almost all underclassmen, wasn’t able to secure as high of a finishing place, they received the control award, which helped them reach the Super Qualifier for the regional round.  The award was presented to them for their outstanding skills in documenting their automation software.

Both Viridian and CodeRed will compete in the Super Qualifier, which will take place on Feb. 15.

Suarez is very proud of the efforts put forth by each of the teams at this qualifier, and she said that each of the matches brought excitement and showcased the best handiwork of her students.

“I’m looking forward to more competition and a better chance of getting to regionals,” said sophomore software programmer Daniel Walker.
