Karrie Piper – Math

Karrie Piper has taught at many schools over her 16 years of teaching, but the new Middle School math teacher says she has found a home at Greenhill

Piper was raised in Flower Mound and earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her master’s degree in school counseling from the University of Texas at Tyler.

Piper says she always knew she wanted to teach.

“I found out pretty early math was my favorite subject to teach and I haven’t looked back since,” Piper said.

Piper started her teaching career at Explorations Preparatory School in Flower Mound. She taught math and worked as a counselor.

After teaching at Marcus High School in Flower Mound,  Piper moved to Parish Episcopal School in Dallas. At Parish she was the middle school math support teacher, which meant she was helping students with anything related to math.

“My time at Parish Episcopal helped me prepare to teach multiple grades this year at Greenhill,” Piper said.

Piper first came to know Greenhill as the parent of a student.

“She always knew Greenhill was the spot and now she gets to teach here,” said Head of Middle School Susan Palmer.

Palmer says that Piper’s “whole love of teaching came across in her interview.” In her current Middle School role, Piper teaches math to sixth and eighth grade students.

“She is the type of person to always pitch in, that makes her a good team member,” Palmer said.
