The Greenhill boys basketball team had two wins and two losses in the Tarkanian Classic over winter break.

The Hornets lost their first game in a close 64-62 game against Salesian College Preparatory in the Las Vegas tournament and continued in the loser’s bracket. Greenhill then followed that with a 61-47 win Evangel Christian, a team from Kentucky.

After having one game each day, the Hornets had a break on Sunday. Greenhill came back on Monday with a 73-69 loss against Pebblebrook High School and a six-point win in the final match against the St. Augustine Saints. The team averaged 64.75 points a game in the tournament and came back to Texas on Wednesday, Dec. 22.

Once back, the Hornets play a few non-conference games before counter games against other Southwest Preparatory Conference teams.

“The tournament was a lot of fun because it was my first time traveling with the team,” said sophomore Dillon Watt. “Now, I’m excited and looking forward to the conference games ahead.”
