On Nov. 4-6, Greenhill’s Boys and Girls Volleyball Varsity teams competed in the Fall Southwest Preparatory Conference Championship Tournament.

The Boys Volleyball Team led by senior captains Matthew Park and Ryan Fiedelman and Head Coach Mauro Grasso went into the tournament as the first seed due to their 7-2 record in counter games.

On Friday, Nov. 5, they had their first game, defeating Fort Worth Country Day School in three sets. The team then entered the semi-finals, where they played St. Mark’s School of Texas.

With the crowd cheering them on, Greenhill won the first set, going into the second set with the advantage. The team lost the next three sets, and ultimately the match cost them their spot in the championship game.

St. Mark’s finished the tournament as the victors defeating the previous SPC champions Trinity Valley School.

Greenhill’s Boys Volleyball team ended SPC with a 3-1 win against Casady School to earn third place in the tournament.

The Greenhill’s Girls Volleyball team led by senior captains Tatum Sims, Mikah Finley and Alex Little and Head Coach Tatiane Deibert, was the third seed entering the tournament with a record of 4-2 in counter games.

On Thursday, Nov. 4, the girls team started off with a 3-0 win against The Kinkaid School. That win took them to the quarter-finals where they faced St. Stephens’s Episcopal School who they beat in another 3-0 finish.

In the semi-finals, they faced the first seed, Hockaday, and suffered a 3-0 loss which knocked them into the consolation bracket. When competing for the third-place spot, they lost to St. John’s School and placed fourth at SPC.

Both Greenhill volleyball teams had unfortunate ends to their seasons this year, but coaches and players are hopeful for a turnaround leading into next year.
