This Friday marks Hornet Night for all winter season sports teams, and the theme is White Out.
Hornet Night is a day where every team competes in a counter game and occurs every sports season.
Varsity boys and girls basketball as well as varsity boys and girls soccer will play Southwest Preparatory Conference rival, Episcopal School of Dallas.
The event also creates time for the student body to come together and support their peers.
“I am so excited to have a fun night with my friends and watch everyone compete, especially since they have worked so hard,” said freshman Lilly Williams.
She says the attendance of many supporting fans will help boost morale and hopefully bring Greenhill home some wins.
Varsity Boys Basketball
The team has continued their performance from years past.
“I like our chances; we are well matched with them,” senior Anwar Battikhi said.
Junior captain Dillon Watt is eager to continue the team’s 1-0 undefeated counter-season record.
The last encounter with ESD ended with a 75-71 win for the Hornets.
Varsity Girls Basketball
Senior captain Sibelle Zambie continues to dominate the court in stats for the girls team.
The counter season is still young but, the Hornets have a 1-0 record and hope to extend to a 2-0 streak on Friday night.
The last meeting between the Hornets and Eagles ended with a Greenhill win 69-66.
Varsity Boys Soccer
With the recent loss of senior captain Zander Kennedy due to an injury, the team is looking for younger talent to shine through on Friday.
Junior captain Liam Fagelman says he is thrilled to boast the 1-0 counter-season record, wishing for a 2-0 record as well as to cage the Eagles. They succeeded in their last confrontation with a final score of 2-1.
Varsity Girls Soccer
Senior captain Devin Davis is also out on Friday due to an injury, however, with an array of seniors filling this year’s roster, others will have the opportunity to shine. Senior captain Siena Richey is among the top players on the team.
The girls soccer team’s last fixture with ESD ended with a draw, 2-2. The Hornets have a 1-0 streak which means 1-0 counter seasons across the board.
