Jan. 9 kicked off the Southwest Preparatory Conference counter games for Upper School varsity winter sports. The Hornets played Trinity Valley in both boys and girls basketball and soccer – these games lead up to the seeding for the Winter SPC tournament in Houston in February.
Boys basketball won 84-58, allowing their record to be 21-2. Junior Dillon Watt continues to stand out after his performance on Thursday night. He had 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Boys basketball is on pace to break Greenhill’s all-time single-season three-point makes record during this conference season.
Girls basketball won 49-15. Multiple players added to the scoring, but the new addition, junior Vivian Franklin, continues to produce. She says she hopes to lead her new team to an exciting and successful conference season. The girls team overall is young and continues to improve throughout the season.
Boys soccer won 3-1, led by junior Alex Sharma, who had a hat trick. Junior captain Noah Piper continues a strong season by only allowing one goal. The team lost a key part of their lineup as senior Zander Kennedy tore his ACL in Argentina in late 2023.
Girls soccer won 3-2, with three freshmen scoring for varsity. Senior captain Devin Davis is out with a torn ACL for the season, so the team will rally behind their other two seniors and college soccer commits, Siena Richey and Hayden Goodman.
This Friday, all teams take on the Episcopal School of Dallas for Hornet Night, with the theme being whiteout.
