Three Greenhill athletes signed their National Letters of Intent to Division One universities on Nov. 8.
Senior Sibelle Zambie signed to play basketball at Lehigh University, senior Josie Arbuckle signed to swim at the University of California Los Angeles and senior Devin Davis signed to play soccer at the University of Tennessee.
NLIs are agreements that officially bind a student-athlete to attend the university for one year. Nov. 8 marks National Signing Day for every future Division One athlete. After this date, athletes have a seven-day window to make their commitments official.
Zambie verbally committed to Lehigh University in the fall of 2022 and says she has been immensely excited to make things official.
“Signing is the cherry on top symbolizing the hard work and passion I have poured into basketball since I was a little girl. Now I get to make things official,” Zambie said.
Arbuckle, who started swimming lessons at two months old, says she has big aspirations for her future swim career at UCLA.
“I’m very honored to have the opportunity that I have. It feels very fulfilling,” Arbuckle said.
Signing day also allowed Arbuckle to form new future goals.
“My goals are to make the travel team, qualify for the NCAAs and potentially train for the Olympic trials,” she said.
Davis says she found a sense of community and belonging on her very first unofficial visit to UT. Ever since, she has wanted to pursue soccer there.
“Everyone I have met welcomed me with open arms. Anyone can see how much of a family it is,” said Davis.
Soccer has been a large part of Davis’ life since the age of four when she first started. She says signing solidified her hard work and love for the sport even further.
“Signing my letter of intent was definitely a bit of a surreal moment and allowed reality to set in,” Davis said.
Like Arbuckle, Davis has large goals for her career in Tennessee. She says she hopes to win an SEC championship during her time there.
“I can’t wait for this next chapter,” Davis said.
