Greenhill has invited the founder of Compass Education Group, Adam Ingersoll, to give a presentation informing students and their guardians about the SAT and the ACT tests.
“The intent [of the presentation] is to help you figure out what are the best decisions for you,” Ingersoll said.
When taking either test, students use multiple methods of studying. Tutoring sessions and practice tests are among some of the ways students prepare for these exams.
“The more positive affirmations you can give yourself leading into the test and truly believing them really helps you because the more negative things you say about it the more poorly your scores will come out,” junior Ashley Weinstein said.
Ingersoll’s presentation is especially geared to assist the junior class, who may be taking the online format of the SAT. This year is the first year the SAT has been offered online and is expected to be a large change.
“I think [the presentation] will be helpful,” junior Ella Ou-Yang said. “I obviously don’t know exactly what he is going to say, but I’ve been told he is an expert in the field.”
Some colleges do not require these tests for their applications, while others do. College counselors help students decide what options will be the best for them.
“I talked to my college counselor beforehand about [how going test optional] would affect me getting into some of the colleges I was applying to,” senior Zander Kennedy said.
The presentation is set to take place on Feb. 13 and Ingersoll expects to return for later presentations as well.
“I’d love to come back and present in person,” says Ingersoll.
