Senior Lila Levy stepped into the spotlight in the Upper School’s production of “Mamma Mia!” The show was performed on Nov. 11 and 12.
Levy has been involved in theater for the past ten years and has been a part Greenhill’s theater program throughout her four years in Upper School.
“My favorite part of Greenhill theater is the community,” Levy said.
This year, she played the role of Donna Sheridan, a hotel owner and mother to protagonist Sophie Sheridan.
The audition process to earn this role included acting, singing and dancing.
“The teachers and cast make you feel so loved and supported as you audition,” junior Tara Alim said. “They encourage you to showcase your full potential.”
Senior Ellery Sherwood and Levy alternated as Donna Sheridan, each performing in two of the four shows.
To prepare for the role, Levy says she spent her summer immersing herself in Donna’s character.
“I watched the film a lot to understand the character, and then I copied certain aspects of Donna in the movie while also developing my own character,” Levy said.
Junior Hazel Goes-Young was a castmate of Levy’s in the production this year.
“I loved working with her because of the energy she brought to rehearsal,” Goes-Young said. “She has such a fun time.”
Levy expressed how proud she was of the musical’s success and is already looking forward to the play “The Crucible” later this year.
“My favorite part of the show was actually performing,” Levy said. “Tech week was also a lot of fun since I was able to hang out with everybody in the cast.”
