Lower School physical education teacher Paul Field filled the vacant position as Head Coach of boys varsity soccer after the previous coach resigned.
Field started playing soccer at the age of five in the UK and was recruited to play professional club at academies and independent schools in the UK.
Instead, he went to university and majored in Physical Education which led to his career start as a coach.
Field has been coaching students for ten years, and his time at Greenhill has been comprised of primarily coaching Lower School students.
“I love working with the athletes we have here; they are hungry to learn and love to represent the school,” said Field.
After his transition from coaching younger students to Upper School students, Field says he realized he enjoys the competitive nature of varsity sports.
“I enjoy getting to work with players of a higher level,” Field said.
Senior Julian Meyer says he enjoys Field’s coaching style and has seen a lot of team development.
“[Fields] leads the boys well, on and off the pitch. I can see the difference in tactics from game to game,” Meyer said.
As the season progresses, Field says he has seen the team build and develop and is excited to hold the role as head coach for years to come.
“I have seen the team dynamic change,” said Junior Olivia Ortley-Gragg.
Field says he has vast ambitions and goals for the team, he says his goal is to build a positive team culture.
“Our goal is to put a team out on the field that the community can be proud of,” said Field. “I would love create building blocks for the future, and establish good habits, and of course win [Southwest Preparatory Conference].”
Field says he is eager to see these ambitions come into play on the field as SPC playoff games start on Feb. 8.
