During the scheduled advisory time on Oct. 24, the Upper School Student Inclusion Council hosted a new student social to create new connections and foster relationships among new students.
The courtyard located near the underclassmen locker room was filled with around 20 new students from various Upper School grades. They enjoyed donuts, lemonade and hot chocolate, while engaging in conversation.
The Student Inclusion Council say they hosted this event with the intent of creating a space for new students to connect with each other and share their experiences.
“The main goal was to fully integrate new students into the community and make sure that they were forming the connections they need to have,” sophomore Paylin Barnes said. “It was an opportunity to connect with each other and talk about their experiences.”
New students say they found this event effective as it helped them create new bonds with their peers.
“It really helped because it introduced me to a lot of new people at the school, and at the start of the year I was just going in completely empty handed with no friends,” sophomore Dario Dixit said. “Through this event, I got to meet some new people that I could talk to and help me around, so I would say it was pretty helpful.”
Overall, students say they felt this event was helpful because it not only helped integrate them into the Greenhill community, but it also helped them form new lasting relationships.
