Freshman Javi Johnson has taken up sports photography and can be seen with his camera at many of the varsity games taking place at Greenhill.
Before last school year, Johnson had never considered photography and had zero classroom experience.
“I sort of just played around with a camera and looked up videos on YouTube to figure it out,” Johnson said. “I thought it was cool to take photos and one day went to shoot a middle school volleyball game.”
Johnson photographs more than just sports – his genres consist of nature and urban settings as well.
“My favorite to shoot is sports. More specifically, soccer and football,” Johnson said.
Johnson says he has mainly taken up this hobby to support Greenhill and his friends, but he aspires to take the next step and turn his love for taking photos into a business. He has occasionally charged for photos and plans to expand that endeavor further.
