Renovations of Greenhill’s athletic facilities are underway on the west side of campus. The fencing around the construction site has been put in place, signaling the start of a multi-phase development, including new tennis courts, a regulation-sized turf field, and the new Athletic Performance Center.
The APC will be the first structure built, followed by the relocated tennis courts, and lastly the turf field.
The fencing from the south end of the track to the current tennis courts provides space for construction to operate while allowing students to still utilize the track and tennis courts until May 1.
The gate leading into George Bush Elementary School will no longer be accessible.
Director of Sports Performance Jessen Houston says he is optimistic about the construction timeline, stating that he expects the enhancements to be completed in under two years.
“I am excited for the new facilities to provide more opportunities to serve our athletes and student body,” Houston said.
Junior Isabel Tanner believes the facilities will elevate the athletic programs at Greenhill.
“I cannot wait to see what the future holds for sports performance and athletes at Greenhill,” Tanner said.
The upgraded facilities align with Greenhill’s commitment to help students be successful on various fronts.
“This space will be another physical example of the school’s promise to ensure all aspects of our school are important,” Houston said.
