Freshman class officers were announced on Oct 31. Emmet Considine was elected President, Adrienne Akintola was elected Vice President, and Arjan Sahni was elected Secretary.
The Dean of Student Activities Kira Rivera, the faculty advisor to the Student Council, says the ninth-grade leaders are accompanied by upperclassmen leaders to work on projects throughout the year as part of the Student Council.
Specified in the Greenhill Upper School Student Council Constitution, each class officer has a defined role and responsibilities.
The Presidents role consists of representing the class and communicating with other members to make sure the class is doing the best they can.
“I feel like I can be the bridge between the student body and our class deans [Blake] Harkey and [Jacobo] Luna,” Considine said.
Considine has been part of the Greenhill community for 11 years, and he says he feels in the right position to lead and help his class grow.
“Being the class president, I’m learning to be a leader in any community that needs one,” Considine said.
The vice president manages the budget and oversees fundraisings and also partners with the president to plan class events.
The secretary sends emails for the upcoming week to inform the class of any change in schedule.
“I like sending emails and adding riddles in the class meeting because it allows the grade to participate in an interactive way,” Sahni said. “Sending emails can help the grade feel more connected.”
The three Freshmen Student Council officers say they have set the goal of uniting the class together and bringing them closer to the community.
“It is appropriate to grow into their roles, as leaders it’s their responsibility to run and plan class meetings,” Harkey said.
