On Sept. 7, Kylie Jenner, the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, announced her second pregnancy to the world. Although she had kept it hidden for a few months, this did not come as a surprise to most. 

In the coming weeks before the announcement, Tik Tok users and fans alike had created a conspiracy about the possibility of Jenner being pregnant.  

It all started with one Tik Tok user that pointed out all the reasons as to why she thought Kylie Jenner was pregnant. Her theory stemmed from the fact that Jenner had posted a picture herself on August 10th with light pink nails. Later that night, Jenner’s sister Kim Kardashian posted a picture of both of them holding drinks. In this post, Jenner’s nails were now colored green.  

When I first heard about this theory, I thought it was a bit of a stretch. In previous interviews, Jenner had said that she gets her nails done a lot, and as a kid, she would get her nails done every week. Because of this, I thought that the Tik Tok user was just grasping at straws. But the more I heard about this theory, the more it made sense. When Jenner was pregnant with her first daughter, Stormi Webster, she wanted to keep her pregnancy confidential. To do this, she would post old pictures of herself on Instagram so people wouldn’t be suspicious. There had also been rumors of her and Travis Scott getting back together a few months prior.

The fact that the internet was able to piece together a well-kept well kept secret purely from the fact that her nails weren’t the same color in two different pictures just shows how powerful the internet is. We underestimate just how much knowledge we can gather from social media alone about both current events and trivial things such as a celebrity’s pregnancy.
