With 2024 coming to a close, Spotify released its yearly listening recap, “Spotify Wrapped,” on Wednesday, Dec. 4. Apple Music has also released its version of the yearly listening recap, titled “Apple Music Replay.”
These listening reviews allow subscribers of the streaming services to view their most listened to artists of the year, along with their most listened-to songs, albums and a report of how many minutes they listened to music.
“I realized that my music taste has changed throughout the year,” sophomore Aaron Sharma said. “So, seeing my Spotify Wrapped gave me some nostalgia into the beginning of the year when I listened to different artists.”
Some students say Spotify Wrapped has become a popular topic of conversation at school.
“One thing I like about seeing Spotify Wrapped is seeing all my friends most listened to artists and comparing and contrasting theirs with mine,” junior Grant Colocousis said.
The Evergreen Online sent out a survey to all Greenhill Upper School students asking them who their top five most listened to artists this year were and compiled each student’s top five artists, ranking each artist with a point-based system. Artists received five points for being a student’s most listened, four points for second, three for third, and so on.
In the results the artist with the most listening points is ranked as number one.
