Greenhill seniors hosted their annual fundraising car wash on Apr 7. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., students were encouraged to bring their cars to the parking lot of the Marshall Family Performing Arts Center to be washed by seniors.
The car wash, which aims to raise money for their senior class gift, was held on Upper School conference day, like in previous years.
“We always do it on conference day, just because a lot of parents are coming to school and seniors don’t have conferences, so it’s easy for us to stay,” said senior Student Council member Kendall Poglitsch.
Each wash cost $10 and each snack, an additional offering, was $1. Overall, they raised $1,300, which will go towards their senior class gift. Senior Student Council is also planning to host a bake sale and one other event soon to raise additional money, according to Poglitsch.
“It’s so that we can give something back to the school and right now we have a couple ideas going for what our gift will be, but we’re not sure yet,” said Poglitsch.
When planning the car wash, the Student Council used a combination of new and previous years’ supplies.
“It was a little bit difficult making sure we knew what supplies to get for it, but it was good,” said Poglitsch.
Senior Student Council stayed throughout the day along with teacher supervisors. Seniors not in student council could sign up for one-hour shifts. According to Poglitsch, there was a lot of participation from the senior class.
“It was a lot of people from our grade that helped out and we also had a big turnout, which was really nice,” said Poglitsch.
