Senior Jordan Levy started an organization called Creativity with a Cause to inspire middle schoolers to step out of their comfort zones using art.

Levy first had the idea of starting an organization with aspects of art and mental health during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“A lot of kids [didn’t] have a good social outlet, especially during online school,” Levy said.

Her idea for starting Creativity with a Cause originated from the passion that she has for art, and how she knows it can impact a student’s life.

“During the pandemic, many people felt isolated,” Levy said.

Levy believes that having a mental and social outlet is incredibly valuable.

She hosts the program for students that attend the George Bannerman Dealey Montessori School located in Dallas, Texas.

“Every Wednesday, I go to drop off extra supplies for the kids,” Levy said.

Junior Lauren Hazan also has been helping with dropping off and coming up with new project ideas.

“I have thought a lot about this, and I think Lauren is the person its [going to] be handed down to,” Levy said.

Levy and Hazan love working with the kids, and she wants the kids to learn to love art and be inspired to create.

Projects such as tote bags, tie-dye, protest posters, global warming drawings and abstract paintings are a few of the projects that Creativity with a Cause has taken on.

Meetings are every Wednesday at 5:30 and consist of one hour on zoom, working on various art projects.

Due to COVID-19, the George Bannerman Dealey Montessori School hosts online meetings, but Levy and Hazan make the most of their situation.

“I don’t want it just to be about art, but I want to learn more about them each meeting,” Levy said.
