Bella Soliman recently joined the Greenhill Design & Innovation Department for the 2025-26 school year. She teaches Introduction to Engineering and Introduction to Automation in Upper School and Robotics in Lower School.
Before coming to Greenhill, Soliman attended Arizona State University, where she majored in Robotics Engineering with a minor in Engineering Management. She is currently finishing her master’s degree in Robotics and Autonomous Systems at ASU.
From a young age, Soliman enjoyed helping her friends in various subjects in school.
“If someone is struggling, I will always jump in and help them out and explain everything,” Soliman said.
She became a tutor in college and later then a teaching assistant, teaching engineering and embedded systems at ASU.
Her passion for helping others soon led her to discover that she wanted to become a teacher, a path solidified by her experience tutoring at ASU.
Soliman said she makes it a priority that her students are engaged and understand the content when teaching. To keep her students invested in class, she provides them with hands-on activities and assists them whenever they have questions.
Soliman was described by the Director of Design and Innovation Matthew Abbondanzio as prepared and thoughtful during her demo teaching lesson at Greenhill.
“She came organized [and] had a really good lesson planned out on her own,” Abbondanzio said. “She interacted with the kids in an inquisitive and thoughtful manner while still challenging them.”
Soliman also makes it a priority to ensure that her students respect and work with each other inside and outside of the classroom.
“Ms. Bella fosters an environment where all of us build each other up,” sophomore Ayaana Joshi said.
If Soliman weren’t a teacher, she would have been an electrical engineer, where she would work with circuit boards.
“Engineering is something I’m really passionate [about], and I love it,” Soliman said. “Even when I’m struggling, I’m enjoying it.”
Soliman’s love for engineering also allowed her to advance her skills in various other subjects as well.
“Her skill set and her expertise in electronics, automation and robotics, fits really well with what we need from a team, faculty and student standpoint, but also from what we need from the students,” Abbondanzio said.
Soliman said she chose Greenhill because of the welcoming environment she experienced during her interview.
“I really like it so far,” Soliman said. “I really like how the kids interact with the class. I like the team [and] everybody here.”
