As winter approaches, Catalyst Coffee has introduced new seasonal food and drink options, drawing a range of reactions from students who have tried them.
Catalyst added three new breakfast tacos to its menu: the bacon, black bean, egg, cheese and avocado taco; the chorizo, potato, egg and cheese taco; and the barbacoa, egg and cheese taco.
“I tried the barbacoa and egg burrito, and I think that its good, and reasonably priced,” freshman Camille Richards said. “I will definitely get this again.”
Some students expressed disappointment in the lack of vegetarian options.
“I feel like I am missing out because all of the new burrito flavors are so unique, and everyone seems to like them,” freshman Aditi Karthik said. “I can’t try them because I am vegetarian.”
In the future, Karthik said she hopes Catalyst will consider alternative taco fillings.
“If they just took out the meat, it would still be good,” Karthik said. “In my opinion a bean, cheese, avocado, and egg burrito would still taste delicious, even without the bacon.”
On top of the new burrito options, Catalyst introduced seasonal drinks for the winter: the peppermint mocha latte and the gingerbread chai latte.
“The gingerbread chai drink was good, but a bit too sweet for me,” sophomore Gitanjali Agastya said.
The peppermint mocha latte, on the other hand, has a cooler, less sweet taste according to freshman Baer Kelly.
“The peppermint mocha was good,” freshman Parker King said. “If you are not a fan of a strong coffee and minty flavors, then this isn’t the drink for you.”
Overall, many students have enjoyed trying these new drinks as a sweet way to start the winter and are already looking forward to future menu additions.
“I really like the new menu items, and I hope that more new seasonal items continue to be introduced because it’s always exciting to try these new interesting flavor combinations,” King said.
