Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is celebrated across the globe on Nov. 2. The holiday originated in Mexico and celebrates life and death. Most Mexican homes have altars with flowers, candles, food for offering, and photos of family members that are being remembered.
“For the past couple of years, excluding last, Greenhill’s Latin Student Union (LSU) has created an altar, but they opened it up to the public more this year,” said Spanish teacher Stephanie Almanza.
The LSU encourages all of Greenhill’s students and faculty to put pictures of the deceased loved ones on the altar that is set up in the Upper School Learning Commons if they would like.
